Welcome to my food blog!

This is my food blog and I created this as a part of my food culture class I'm taking at a private Japanese university in Tokyo.

I am planning to post on a weekly basis about food.

I am a university student in Japan, and I have interest in different kinds of food and food culture.

I used to live in the States for four years and in the Philippines for three years, so I have been exposed to various food cultures.

I hope I can share a lot of things including my experience through this blog!

Restaurant Review

I went to a restaurant called, "Jasmine Thai" and it's a restaurant inside COREDO Muromachi . COREDO Muromachi is a shopping and entertainment complex located in the historic Nihonbashi district at the very heart of the city . This restaurant is certified as Thai SELECT . Thai SELECT is a mark of certification awarded by the Ministry of Commerce, the Royal Thai Government to guarantee the authentic Thai taste of Thai food products and Thai restaurants in Thailand and overseas .  This restaurant had this red symbol , which is Thai SELECT Classic , and this is awarded to Thai restaurants of excellent quality . I went to eat with my parents, and we ordered spicy papaya salad , fried shrimp spring roll , shrimp fried rice noodles with basil and chili , and massaman curry . First, about the service , I give three stars out of five. The waiters were polite and we didn't get stared when we were eating . Also, they served all the food relatively quickly . Next, the quality ...

My Recipe Presentation in Class

I gave a recipe presentation in class, and I was able to introduce a recipe of any kind of food! I chose to make " Galette Bretonne " for my presentation. The recipe and the taste is very similar to that of a conventional crepe . While crepes are made from wheat flour, galettes are often made from buckwheat flour .  The galette has its origin in the famous crepes. These are a gastronomic speciality that is offered throughout France , but the galettes originate from the region of Brittany located in the northwest of the country . There is evidence that in the Ancient Rome people ate crepes to celebrate the arrival of the spring and, therefore, the harvest to come . Centuries later, this traditional recipe evolved and new ingredients were added, such as buckwheat flou...

Natalie   is the mother of this family, and she is a finance officer at the University of Queensland College. John is the father and he is a banker. They have two kids which is Emily and Sean . This is how the grocery stores look like in Australia. Next, this is the family's weekly consumption . From the weekly consumption, the family buys a unique product called " Vegemite ". Vegemites are made from mainly yeast extract and salt . It's a by-product of beer brewing . It has a very salty and powerful taste, and is often used with butter. It also has a characteristic scent . I actually went to Australia when I was in high school and tried eating vegemite. Honestly, it wasn't my thing. It was really salty and I wouldn't want to try it again. Now about the Australian food culture, Australia...
